Before I get into it, we added a new country to the listening pool. From all the way down under, New Zealand has joined the list of countries in which we have been listened to. Thanks for giving us a listen.
I was going to skip it but let’s do the Christmas Single. It is only two songs. Though the spacecraft were all in on this, it was Flash that pushed the idea. He really wanted to do a Christmas album. So, he pushed it, and everyone agreed it was a great idea.
The spacecraft always enjoyed Christmas. Not just the Christmas specials that were broadcast through them but watching us on Earth. Seems like at that time of year, we tended to forget some of the differences and lend a hand to each other. So, the goal was not to just be a part of that, but come up with their interpretation.
Note, not a lot of effort went into this. That was not the goal. It was as much for us as it was for everyone. Though we want to get the message out, they were a little home sick over the holidays, and it was a nice way to bring the holidays out to space for them. This was sort of our party for everyone. They do include a few Christmas songs in some of their sets when they perform.
A real Christmas Album in the future is always possible (but at the rate we are putting out music, we are falling far behind).
Silent Night
An obvious choice. Flash wanted to bring out a message of hope and peace. Hopefully show everyone (well anyone who listens) that there is some hope. So, we wanted a traditional song, and one that a message can be added to. Based on all the Christmas specials that were broadcast through them, Silent Night seemed to fit the bill perfectly. It is a traditional Christmas song,
They could all sing, but more importantly, Flash could take the break and deliver his message. It was a good choice and worked out about how we wanted it to.
Sparking Flash
Though getting the message through was important, it was also important to have fun. After all, though Christmas is a great time for reflection and seeing similarities over the differences, it is also a time for fun. So, Flash suggested they poke a little fun at him. If you are going to poke fun of Flash during the Christmas holidays, might as well his sparking (like the Christmas lights).
We also decided to just keep it simple and go with Jingle Bells (though we had to slow it down a bit so DarkStar could keep up with the singing). We just changed the words and had some fun.
